Continuation of Psalm 100
“Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name” (Psalm 100:04).
“Gates” and “courts” are reminiscent of the Temple for the people of the Old Testament, but surely they are also a metaphor for those of us living in the Christian Age—that is, those of us who gather in the presence of God to worship in spirit and truth.
As we enter into worship of our Father in honor of His Sacrificial Son, we must do so with a deep-seated feeling of gratitude—grateful for a Heavenly Father who loved us so much that He made a way for us to be cleansed and for His Son Jesus who carried out His Father’s plan by giving His life. This sacrifice was on a painful cross so that we would have the opportunity to spend eternity in the place of eternal peace.
And it would be the height of disrespect and ingratitude to fail to offer up our genuine praise to both the Father and His Son. “Praise” means recognition of their worthiness—it means honoring them by holding them in an elevated position in our minds and in our actions.
