Boldness to Enter (12/29/2024)

Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh” (Hebrews 10:19-20).

When the Hebrew writer pens these words to Christians who have obeyed the gospel, he writes to a people who are troubled somewhat because their new-found faith has not produced the comfortable life they anticipated.

Because of their continuing troubles, they have begun to have doubts about their new faith and about Jesus—some have gone back to the Mosaic system and others are contemplating doing so. “Boldness” indicates the “joyful confidence” they should have as they anticipate heaven.

And, he wants them to know that it is the sacrificial blood of Jesus that has made their confidence possible, not anything that had been available to them under the law of Moses. He establishes this point in the first two verses of this book: it is through God’s Son that he now speaks to mankind.

This section of scriptures gives a powerful message of the hope of salvation, not only to these Hebrew converts but also to us: Jesus is the means of salvation. In view of this profound fact, let us begin the new year with renewed zeal and commitment to Jesus as our Savior and to His Cause that is available to all mankind.
